Spring 2015 has arrived and with a new season comes new anime! Anime like: Plastic Memories, Shokugeki no Souma, Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works (Season 2) and a bunch more. But with so many anime arriving it feels almost impossible to choose a few from the bunch to keep up with. Well that’s what Fun Times-Sama is here for!
I’ll be summarizing, giving my opinion and rating a bunch of the new arrivals based on the first episode(s) so you don’t have to bear through watching 24 minutes of an anime you’ll never watch the next episode of.
With that, LETS START!
Anime Analysed thus far:
- Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works [Season 2]
- Plastic Memories
- Shokugeki no Souma (Food Wars)
- Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakarnai Ken [Season 2] (I Can’t Understand What My Husband is Saying)
- Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?)
- Nisekoi [Season 2]
Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works [Season 2]
Summary: Picking up not even a day after where season 1 left us off at, Shirou has lost Saber as his servant and has to fight to get her back. Toosaka and Archer go to the church with a plan to take out Caster and her master, Kuzuki. A very serious plot twist occurs -start spoiler- where Archer leaves Toosaka to join Casters side saying that he sides with the winners. Also, Shirou and Toosaka share a very sentimental moment where Shirou reveals that he “has feelings for [Toosaka]” -end spoiler-
Comments: If Fate/Stay Night UBW sticks to its amazing visuals and great story line like it has with season 1 and Fate Zero, it will easily end leaving viewers very satisfied with the outcome and journey.
Genres: Action, Fantasy, Magic, Shounen, Supernatural
If you like: Fate Zero, beautiful visuals, Parasyte, Persona 4, Mirai Nikki, historical warriors and myths and legends but in anime form
- Stunning visuals
- Awesome battles
- Great Story
- Beautiful characters
- Well developed plot, characters, and story
Fun Times Rating: 8.5/10 Funtimes
Summary: A young man, named Tsukasa Mizugaki, joins an organization that works to collect expired androids called Giftia’s. These androids aren’t your ‘want to take over the world and kill the Z fighters’ sort of androids, but androids with human like emotions and personalities. The Giftia’s have a life span of approximately 9 years and when that time runs out its up to the SA Corp. Terminal Service to retrieve them. “So what?” you may ask, well, the key ingredient in this anime is the heart breaking, tear jerking, humanity hating action of retrieving these android’s. Just watching Tsukasa and Isla (his Giftia partner) take a little girl away from a lonely old lady living by her self will bring a tear to the coldest of hearts.
Comments: If Plastic Memories is able to keep us crying about tearing apart families and relationships along with some nice plot twists this anime might just become one of the main tear jerkers like Angel Beats and Anohana
If you like: Angel Beats, Anohana, Eve no Jikan, Hal
- A lot of feels
- Good visuals
- Memorable characters
Fun Times Rating: 7.5/10 Funtimes
Shokugeki no Souma (Food Wars)
Summary: A young boy named Yukihira Souma has a dream of being a master chef at his fathers restaurant. After A LOT of fan service and foodgasms (orgasms from eating food… yeah I know…) Souma is sent off to an extremely strict and tough culinary school. Follow his fan service filled adventures to becoming the top chef.
Comments: Another anime about a strong willed boy going to school with some huge boobed friend or teacher, probably some friendly ‘yes man’ of a friend and some evil (probably just mean at the worst) people. Its common and the art style is familiar as well. I see nothing special but who knows it may surprise us all.
WARNING: just in the first episode alone there is a hell of a lot of ecchi fanservice and I have a good feeling its going to continue throughout the anime, so if your ok with that then you wont mind it; but if your like me who cant stand anime that are more ‘plot’ than actual plot then you’d be better off watching something else.
Genre: Ecchi (a freaking lot of it too). School, Shounen
If you like: Highschool of the Dead, Nisekoi, Rail Wars,
- Nice visuals and animations
- Good characters and designs
- Too much ecchi
- Fan service abuse
Fun Times Rating: 6.5/10 Funtimes
Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakarnai Ken (I Can’t Understand What My Husband is Saying) [Season 2]
Summary: The daily lives of the cute Otaku husband x Office lady wife couple are back and the same as before.
Comments: If you liked season 1 you’ll continue to love this. If you didn’t watch season one, go watch it now! It will take you just 39 minutes (I’m serious)
Genres: Comedy, Slice of Life, Seinen
If you like: Lucky Star, Daily Lives of Highschool Boys, Acchi Kocchi, Kantoku Fuyuki Todoki
- Very similar to season 1
- Very cute
- 3 minute shorts, can be added to any watching list
- Super relaxed and laid back
Fun Times Rating: 8/10 Funtimes
Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?)
Summary: Gods and Goddesses have come down to earth. They each have their own ‘Familia’ and recruit people to it (like a guild). The main character is Bell; a weak level 1 part of Hestia’a Familia falls for a level 5 in the Loki Familia. Join his adventure as he goes through dungeons on his quest to become stronger (and probably a better goal that will be mentioned later on in the anime)
Comments: This anime reminds me a lot about Sword Art Online, the MMORPG aspect, the leveling up, the dungeons, quests, everything about it is very similar to SAO. But its also alot more story focused as it takes place in an older time and not in some game. I absolutely love the MMORPG aspect of this anime. As well as the art style, story, and characters. Also, the Familia concept reminds me alot of One Piece, how they have to meet people and recruit them to grow their forces. This allows alot of room for great characters with all sorts of abilities and skills to come along and keep us entertained. This anime has immense potential to beat SAO and become a classic that everyone loves, maybe the best of 2015 if it does it right.
Bonus: Everyone seems to LOVE Hestia; she has been trending everywhere!
Genre(s): Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance
If you like: Sword Art Online, One Piece, Magi, Fairy Tail
- Classic art style
- Just a bit more than usual fan service (doesn’t take away from story)
- Action packed
- MMORPG concept is very well done
- Likable characters

Nisekoi: [Season 2]
Summary: Continuing the daily harem filled life of Raku and all his girlies (Chitoge, Onodera, Tachibana, etc). Raku is still Chitoge’s boyfriend by force and his love for Onodera still burns strong. But whats new now is that Chitoge accepts her love for Raku. Watch to see who ends up with Raku and which girls key opens Raku’s childhood necklace lock.
Comments: The first episode did a great job with the visuals; lots of vibrant colors and amazing art designs. The characters are very well developed and aren’t super cliche as well. The show still maintains its hilarious aspects and is very fun to watch.
Genres: Comedy, Romance, School, Shounen, Harem
If you like: Toradora, Baka to Test, To LOVE-Ru, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai
- Similar to season 1
- Lovable characters
- Amazing art style
- Beautiful scenery
- Good character development
- Heart warming
- Relaxed and laid back
